The Hamburg HfMT is one of Europe's most important colleges of art and science, with the guiding principle of "artistic excellence in social responsibility". Its 1,500 students from 60 countries shape the international character of the HfMT in the areas of music, pedagogy, theatre, music therapy as well as culture and media management. University life is spread over two campuses. With over 600 events a year, the HfMT is one of the largest concert and cultural organisers in northern Germany.
The postgraduate doctoral research group ARTILACS - Artistic Intelligence in Latent Creative Spaces focuses on the concept of "artistic intelligence". It aims at a critical-affirmative engagement with developments in artificial intelligence (AI) in the context of artistic practice.
ARTILACS aims to investigate the extent to which a hybrid combination of KI-supported latent spaces and traditional knowledge spaces opens up opportunities for new forms of creativity and cognition in artistic practice, which can be methodologically captured in the concept of "Artistic Intelligence".
Four Hamburg universities (HafenCity Universität, Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften, Hochschule für Bildende Künste and Hochschule für Musik und Theater) as well as the university and Musikhochschule Lübeck are cooperating in order to examine the topic in the context of different artistic practices.
The HfMT's post-graduate programme will take up the institutional and content-related diversity that exists at the HFMT
